The PI proposes to develop a model system to study the role of cell-cell signaling and its contributions to CNS formation. The PI proposes to use a grafting procedure between two different neural tubes (ectoderm and neural crest) to study cell-cell signaling and its contributions to CNS formation. The chimeric neural tube will be allowed to develop in vitro and then the developing CNS will be studied in the neural tube to determine if the neural tube cells communicate with the surrounding cells.
